Lymington TOWN ruffled the feathers of Division 2 title favourites Poole Town with an impressive 1-0 victory over the Dolphins at the Tatnum Ground.
"That's a great result for us," purred Lymington manager John Pyatt. "It was important not to lose today but to go and win was really encouraging - we must keep our feet on the ground now," he warned.
The only goal of the game came after 30 minutes when Charlie Balfe's low delivery across the penalty area was swept home at the far post by 18-year-old substitute Kevin Brennan - his second goal of the weekend.
Third-placed Brading drew 1-1 with leaders Stockbridge on the Island, Mark Vowles's effort for the visitors being cancelled out by Brading's Adam Holbrook.
Horndean opened their win account at the expense of local rivals Petersfield at Five Heads Park, Richie Way netting the only goal of the game for the home club after 32 minutes.
In Division 3, table-toppers Farnborough North End will be pleased to have escaped with a 1-1 draw at fast-improving Colden Common.
"We created lots of chances and really should have beaten them - they'll be delighted to be going back up the M3 with a point," smiled Common chairman Cliff Banford.
Lee Kelly headed in a 50th-minute cross by Dean Higgins to put the home side in front only for North End's Matt Squires to strike home an equaliser on 75 minutes.
Ordnance Survey manager Tim Balch wasn't a happy Bank Holiday bunny despite seeing his side overcome Division 3 strugglers Fleet Spurs 2-1 at Kennels Lane.
"It was a very poor first half display from us and I let the players know that at half-time," moaned Balch. "We would have definitely struggled against a better side today but it's three points at that's it, I'm not happy though," sighed Balch.
Ashley Wilson gave the Mapmen the perfect start on five minutes after the home keeper had spilled the ball, but it all went downhill for Survey after Terry Coupland blazed a tenth minute penalty over the crossbar.
A crazy 35-yard own goal doubled the visitors' lead after 55 minutes with 'Spurs netting a late consolation.
Two goals in the last five minutes couldn't quite earn QK Southampton a point as they missed out 3-2 at home to AFC Portchester, who recorded their first league win since the opening day of the season.
Strikes from Neil Miles (47), Luke Sweeney (67) and Simon Woods (84) put Portchester in pole position before Kev Mackay chipped the visitors' keeper and Simon Fowle netted for the Taxmen to set up a tense finale.
Clanfield are still looking for their first win of the season after they were comprehensively beaten 4-0 at Otterbourne.
Liam Hougton gave the Otters a 40th-minute lead after a neat pull-back from the byline by Pete Kelly and then Rob Fox stole in for a second on 55 minutes following a goalmouth scramble.
Steve Trott slotted home a third for the home side ten minutes later with Houghton crossing for substitute Andy Samuels to complete the scoring after 75 minutes.
High-riding Hayling United are still unbeaten after two second-half goals from 18-year-old Dan Hayes secured them a 2-0 victory over title rivals Tadley Calleva.
