SHE lived for only five months but she will always be remembered.
Ten years ago Louisa Stares' five-month-old daughter Lucie died after suffering from a brain tumour.
After being diagnosed with the tumour Lucie spent two weeks being treated at Southampton General Hospital before doctors decided she should spend the last two weeks of her life at the family home in Titchfield.
In a bid to help the staff at the Wessex children's neurological ward where Lucie was treated, the Stares family, from North Way, decided to raise some money.
This week they presented a cheque for £1,686 after a sponsored walk around the Moors Valley Country Park near Bournemouth.
Louisa, who has two children, Joshua, 13, and Ellie, 8, said the walk was an excellent way of making sure Lucie is never forgotten.
She said: "The hospital staff did so much for my daughter and we wanted to pay them back in some way. It was a very difficult time for us, an absolute nightmare. There is no other way to describe it.
"It does feel like we are keeping the memory of my daughter going. We hope to do the walk every year now because it was such a success.
"After seeing the look on the ward sister's face when we presented the cheque I knew we would continue to raise money."
