Hedge End detectives are hunting two robbers who snatched money from a West End supermarket till while physically holding a cashier out of the way.
The raiders fled from the Netto store in the village's High Street, taking £400 in £10 and £20 notes and leaving the 21-year-old female cashier shaken and hurt.
Police said the cashier sustained bruising and swelling to her arm in the attack, which happened at 7.40pm on Thursday.
The two men had entered the store from the High Street and calmly joined a queue of customers before committing the robbery.
After the attack, they escaped via the front door back into West End High Street and ran off towards the pelican traffic lights in New Road.
Detectives say that from there the robbers ran along Upper New Road towards Hemdean Gardens, where they disappeared through a garden.
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Hedge End police station on 0845 045 4545 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
