ANDOVER'S biggest employer is seeking projects which can make a difference in the community.

Every government employee is allowed up to three days paid leave to carry out work that will enhance their area, and DLO Andover encourages staff to take up the Prime Minister's Challenge to work in the community.

Over the past three years 17 major projects have been completed and two are in the process of being achieved by the DLO volunteer teams.

They have tackled projects including playground make-overs at Knights Enham, Smannell and Vigo schools, clearing Anton Lakes and painting community halls.

Staff are encouraged to plan, manage and discover skills they didn't realise they had.

The DLO supplies the workforce, labour and expertise but equipment, resources and insurance must be supplied by the organisation requesting help. Each project must be suited to the staff available and agreed by all concerned.

The DLO is always looking for new projects.
