STAFF at a working men's club in Southampton were this morning clearing up after a car smashed through a wall that surrounds their club.
Two cars were involved in the collision at the junction of Langhorne Road and Portswood Road in Swaythling.
The collision between a Nissan Micra and Ford Escort resulted in the Nissan driving through the wall at the Swaythling Working Men's Club in High Road at 7.15am.
Witnesses said the elderly driver walked free from her car and was taken to hospital by ambulance for checks.
Her car was towed away at 9am.
Club steward Mick Grassick, 46, from Laburnum Road said: "It's my first day back from holiday. The alarm company phoned and said could we get to the club in case there was any structural damage.
"If the car had gone a bit further there could well have been some more damage."
Police said neither the female driver of the Nissan nor the male driver of the Escort were seriously injured.
