FOUR pupils from Newtown School joined the Mayor of Gosport Councillor Keith Edwards for a visit to the Royal Submarine Museum to choose items to be placed in the Gosport 800 time capsule which was buried yesterday.
Brothers Tony and David Chilton and Ben and Oliver Noble chose models of HMS Alliance, Victoria Cross and Distinguished Service Cross for the capsule which was sealed and buried beside the the Millennium Timepiece on Gosport harbourside.
Alliance is the centrepiece of the museum was chosen to represent the link between the museum and the borough. The medals acknowledged the bravery of submariners in the Second World War.
