South Wilts II. (210 for 7) lost to Trojans (306 for 7) by 96 runs
Southern Electric Premier League - Division 3
TROJANS staged a remarkable comeback on Saturday, coming back from the loss of two wickets for no runs and five wickets in the first ten overs to score over 300 and win!
They lost their three Ws, captain Simon Williams and the Wood brothers, for ducks and although Nigel le Bas hit 19, they were in dire trouble at 42 for 5.
However, a sixth wicket stand of 185 between Jamie Donaldson and Adam Denny transformed the match.
Denny was out for 62 in the 43rd over, but Donaldson completed his first century at senior level in double-quick time; South Wilts lost a player to injury early in the piece.
Donaldson finished on 157 not out, the highest individual total for Trojans since the days of Robin Smith.
For the home team Adam Smith took two wickets, both in the opening over of the match, Ross Crick four and skipper Danny Webb one, but Trojans posted a mammoth 306 for seven.
When South Wilts batted, Paul Douglas dismissed both openers and Chris Mitchell obtained two lbw decisions.
However, home captain Webb was batting well, and when he contributed most of the 30 runs that were added in two successive overs, the result was by no means a foregone conclusion.
Webb was eventually caught for 97 attempting another big hit, but his was a good captain's innings.
After he was out, Moody (18) and Adam Smith (21) put together a useful stand, but when these two were dismissed, the end came quickly. The injured Whyte was unable to bat.
Trojans obtained maximum points from this match, their last of the season. They're in fifth position, where they will stay unless Hungerford obtain one point or none from their final match of the season.
