PROCEEDS from this year's Bishop's Waltham Carnival are more than £4,000. The final total is £4,173 - lower than normal because the June event did not include the usual fun run and road race, which will now take place in September.
The Rotary Club has already donated £3,000 of the carnival money towards renovations at Ridgemede School swimming pool.
They now plan to donate a further £1,000 - £250 each to the three Bishop's Waltham lunch clubs and £250 to Bishop's Waltham Museum to help the building expand behind Barclays Bank.
Other donations included £150 to help Swanmore Pre-School move into new premises, £257 towards computer equipment to help a person with cerebral palsy and £200 towards a greenhouse at Rose Road, the Southampton-based centre for profoundly disabled children.
Rotarian John Young took a Bishop's Waltham contingent to the Water Aid Walk in Swanage which raised £780 of the regional £7,000 final. And Pip Gurd's efforts in the Winchester Cancer Research Walk raised £5,000.
The Rotary Club's next event is the Bishop's Waltham five-mile road race and two-mile fun run on September 12.
