MORE than 70 pensioners from a Hampshire village are looking forward to an extra special day out after receiving £150 in our Make it Happen award scheme.
The Hamble Monday club welcomes the elderly through its doors at the Hamble social club in Hamble village every week.
It provides a precious opportunity for elderly people to meet, chat, drink tea and travel on trips across Hampshire.
We teamed up with specialist accident and health insurer Combined Insurance to offer our readers the opportunity to claim a share of £10,000.
The scheme provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a real difference to people in your community.
The Hamble Monday Club provides a great example of individuals who give up their time to put a smile on the face of people in their neighbourhood.
Dianne Cowan from Hamble helps run the club. It was her application that caught the eyes of the Make It Happen judges.
She told us the money would be spent on a Christmas outing for the club's members.
Mrs Cowan said: "The Monday club really is so important. For a lot of people who come here it will be their only trip out during the week. They manage to come no matter what, rain or shine.
"The award is wonderful, I am so pleased."
lIt's not to late to make a claim for some Make It Happen cash. Simply fill in the form.
