IT'S a case of like mother like daughter today when Sue and Stacey Trodd baldly go where few women have gone before.
And the pair's grade one efforts in a joint head shave are set to give Steve New a boost in his battle against cancer.
Sue, 40, worked with Steve on the production line at Ocular Sciences in Chandler's Ford for several months before he had to undergo treatment for cancer of the liver and bowel last year.
But eight weeks ago he was told the cancer had returned to his liver and also his lungs and he will have to undergo more chemotherapy.
Now Sue and her daughter Stacey, 19, who live in Tremona Road, Shirley, hope to raise around £1,000 from their sponsored head shave to give Steve and his family a dream holiday when his treatment is over.
The father of two, who lives with his wife Sandy and his children in Cuckmere Lane in Millbrook, said: "She came around to tell us what she was doing last weekend and it was so unexpected and we were so surprised.
"It's just typical Sue really. She is the sort of top girl that would do this sort of thing.
"My wife and I have travelled around the Greek islands in the past but I don't know where we will go on holiday with this," said the 49-year-old.
"We had to call off all holidays because of the new treatment so we all have to go when it is over.
"I have been so lucky with the family support and all the people at work as well who have done so much."
Sue and her daughter will be getting their heads shaved at TJ Overheads in Derby Road tomorrow.
Sue said: "My daughter's hair is about ten inches long and I think mine is about eight and a half.
"We both never had it short at all before. I am a bit nervous but she's all excited."
