DOZENS of skate and BMX fans descended on a Southampton park at the weekend to show off their skills at the annual Shirley Warren Skate Jam.
The event, which is organised by local youngsters with the help of the Coxford and District Youth Project, is proving more and more popular each year with more than 70 youngsters taking part this year.
Fans of the sports came from as far afield as Poole and Eastleigh to the Shirley Skate Ponds off Warren Avenue, where the event was held. And in case they tired of their wheeled transport, there was also a bouncy castle and refreshment stalls to keep them occupied.
A spokesman for the youth project said: "It's been a brilliant event once again. Everyone involved has been supporting everyone else whether they are an absolute beginner or a seasoned pro.
"That's what makes it special because there's no attitude and everyone is there to enjoy themselves."
