SAINTS are being linked with a move for Glasgow Rangers centre half Craig Moore.
The 28-year-old was slapped on the transfer list at Ibrox last month after deciding to play for Australia in the Olympics.
A £500,000 move to Blackburn collapsed due to Moore's failure to agree personal terms.
The 28-year-old Australian's talks with Blackburn collapsed after a £500,000 fee was agreed.
Norwich were also offered the chance to sign Moore, a former Rangers colleague of St Mary's pair Antti Niemi and Neil McCann, but declined because of financial reasons.
But Saints are obviously in the market for a centre half due to a serious knee injury to Michael Svensson and the recent sale of Fitz Hall to Crystal Palace.
Paul Sturrock offered former Manchester United defender Ronny Johnsen a short-term contract until Christmas, which the Norwegian turned down.
Moore has been at Rangers since 1993 and has made 167 league appearances plus five as a sub.
He played 23 times for Crystal Palace while on loan to them in 1998/99.
Only last year he was made club captain at Rangers, yet angered manager Alex McLeish by refusing to sign an extended contract.
He since questioned Rangers' ambition in a TV interview in Australia after he had returned home for a knee operation.
And his decision to play for his country in the Olympics was the final straw for the Scottish giants.
