A TEN-year-old girl is today fighting for her life in hospital after a road accident.
The young pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after she was in collision with a silver Mitsubishi 4x4 vehicle yesterday in Wide Lane, Eastleigh.
The girl, who lives locally, was taken to Southampton General Hospital where last night she was being assessed and treated for her injuries. Police said the driver, a 25- year-old man from Southampton, and his wife were also taken to hospital suffering from shock.
The accident happened at 12.30pm near the Ford factory. The road was closed for about three hours while police traffic investigators examined the scene. Police have appealed to any witnesses to the accident to contact Eastleigh Road Protection Unit on 0845 045 4545 or anonymously on Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
