Eastleigh police want to trace a have-a-go hero who bravely intervened when a late-night brawl between drunken youths and KFC staff broke out in the town centre.
The clash happened just before midnight outside the KFC restaurant on the corner of Leigh Road and High Street.
Police said a dispute occurred between a member of the restaurant's staff and a customer which resulted in the KFC worker being assaulted. When other KFC staff went to the aid of the victim, they too were assaulted by the gang of drunken yobs.
An Eastleigh police spokesman said: "A passer-by placed himself between the youths and the KFC staff, allowing them to seek refuge and safety within the restaurant. He showed tremendous courage and we would like to establish his identity as he may be able to assist us further with our inquiries."
Police are also keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity at the time of the incident, which happened on the night of Friday, August 13.
