LOCKS Heath's victory celebrations following their 2-1 success at East Cowes Vics on Saturday were marred by a serious injury to their left-back Tony Jones.

"Tony has broken his leg very close to his ankle and will almost certainly need an operation," said Locks Heath boss Matt Parr. "The lads are very shocked and our result today is definitely for him."

The unlucky Jones was injured right on the stroke of half-time and there was a 45-minute delay before the referee could start the second half.

Pete Lyons had given Heath an interval lead but previously unbeaten Vics equalised after 75 minutes. The goal seemed to shake the visitors from their slumber and Mike Summers grabbed their winner two minutes later.

Hythe & Dibden chairman Robbie Parsons was a happy man after his side returned from Horndean with a similar winning margin.

Lee Connor gave the Watersiders the lead just before half-time and, although Horndean levelled after the restart, Andy Lonsdale crashed home from the angle of the penalty area to clinch Hythe a 2-1 win.

"What a great result. We're well made up with it," smiled Parsons.

Romsey Town, who drew 2-2 at Horndean in their previous game, opened their win account with a 4-1 success over Aldermaston - but they had to do it the hard way.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, Simon De'Ath netted a 48th-minute equaliser, following a nicely worked move, before Andy Fung sent a looping header over the keeper from a Paul Smith corner to put Romsey ahead five minutes later.

Smith then netted direct from his 68th minute corner kick with De'Ath ramming in a fourth in the final minute.

Division 2 pacemakers Bishop's Waltham Town led twice against the much fancied Poole Town but had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw at Priory Park.

A Dan Crown header gave the Bishops the lead only for the Dolphins to reply before half-time through Lee Cornick.

Waltham looked set for a surprise win when Mark Tyrrell headed in at the far post from Paul Miller's cross after 80 minutes, but a last-minute penalty awarded for a foul on Ollie Cherrett gave Poole's Gary Funnell to chance to level from the spot.
