A TEENAGER has been jailed for four years for a brutal racist attack on a Jewish youngster.
Aaron Hatch, 19, took a run-up before aiming a kick at the boy's head while he was lying on the ground.
The 17-year-old victim suffered a broken jaw during the savage attack. He will have titanium plates in his head for the rest of his life.
Police who raided Hatch's Southampton home found a sickening collection of racist material including flags, badges and music.
Hatch's two accomplices, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl who cannot be identified for legal reasons, were given community-based punishments.
Southampton Crown Court was told troubled flared after a group of youths had congregated outside Bitterne Bowl, pictured above, in Southampton on a Friday night in February. The girl began to ask the people gathered if they were Jewish. When one of them replied he was partly Jewish, she screamed: "There's a Jew with us!"
The victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was then hit from behind on the back of his head by the boy, then aged 14, who was with Hatch and collapsed to the ground.
Peter Glenser, prosecuting, said: "Aaron Hatch was then seen to take a run-up before delivering a kick to the head.
"It was followed by a stamp to the right-hand side of his face and a number of further kicks to the head.
"As Hatch kicked him as he lay on the ground, the girl was also kicking him."
The court was told the pair told the victim "You don't belong here" during the assault.
The victim, from Thornhill, was taken to Southampton General Hospital and plates had to be fitted because his jaw was fractured in several places.
His 40-year-old father told the Daily Echo that his son had needed counselling since the incident.
"When he first came home we had to liquidise all his food for weeks," he said.
"He could not sleep and could not play his football. He kept having flashbacks. He does not like to go out anywhere now without me going or picking him up."
The court was told Hatch, formerly of Riddings Close in Shirley, had a string of previous convictions for violence.
He admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent and violent disorder.
The girl, from West End, pleaded guilty to violent disorder and racially aggravated grievous bodily harm.
Christopher Amis, mitigating for the girl, who had no previous convictions, said she had never previously been in trouble and her behaviour was out of character.
Judge Jeremy Burford imposed a curfew order, a two-year community rehabilitation order and an intensive supervision and surveillance programme.
The 15-year-old boy from Bitterne, whose only role in the attack was the initial punch, admitted threatening behaviour, violent disorder and racially aggravated grievous bodily harm.
He was given a curfew order and a two-year supervision order and placed on an antisocial behaviour order that means he cannot drink alcohol in public for the next two years.
