ANDOVER Horticultural Society's summer show at Rookwood School hall drew competitors from far and wide again this year.
The society has a membership of around 90 people, is open to all and would like to attract new members who may be keen to learn skills from gardeners who have a wealth of experience dating back to the 1930s.
This year's winner of the prize for tomatoes was aged 90 and even the most experienced growers still have something to learn.
Show organiser, Sue White, said: "We would like to attract more younger members but so many young people work away and don't seem to have the time."
The society holds monthly meetings from September to May in St Anne's Hall. The next meeting takes place at 7.30pm on the third Monday in September.
This year's growing season hasn't been one of the best as a snap warm spell caused difficulties - but that didn't stop some marvellous entries at the show.
The society holds two shows each year with the spring one concentrating on spring bulbs and flowers and a summer show when the emphasis is on vegetables and summer flowers.
Guests of honour this year were Test Valley Borough Council Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr and Mrs Neville Whiteley.
