Lymington & New Milton keeper Kevin Scriven saved a twice-taken penalty at AFC Newbury but still couldn't prevent his team from slipping to a 3-1 defeat to the Berkshire side.
Newbury's Lee Chudy netted with his first attempt but the referee ordered a re-take as Scriven was still having a drink of water and Scriven then promptly saved Chudy's second effort.
Earlier, Ashley Vine had headed Newbury into a 14th minute lead but that was soon cancelled out by a Darren Curtis free-kick for the Linnets.
David Asker's flicked header gave Newbury the lead on the hour mark and Chudy got his revenge on Scriven two minutes from time when he netted a third.
