FORMER Hampshire PGA stalwart Ian Benson amassed an amazing total of 14 birdies when he made a winning return to the county in the 36-hole Lee-on-the-Solent Pro-Am.
Despite his birdie barrage, the Hindhead professional only won by a single shot from Sandford Springs' Jonathan Barnes and Romsey's James Pitcher.
Benson's morning round of 67 included nine birdies, two pars and seven bogeys. He added a further five birdies in his afternoon round of 66 to record a winning five-under-par total of 133.
Ceb Aby's team of James Bassett, Will Allan and Chris Giles won the Pro-Am with an 18-under 120.
