LIFEBOATS: Mortimer and District Branch of the RNLI is holding its annual book sale on Saturday, September 25, from 10am to 2pm, at St John's Hall, Mortimer.
The organisers depend on donations of good saleable books, either hardbacks or paperbacks, children's books and videos.
If you have any that you would like to donate, call our local representative on 881540.
NATIONAL Women's Register: The annual barbecue held on July 23, at Kilkenny, was, as usual, very popular.
Anne supervised the cooking of delicious sausages and chicken. There were plenty of desserts and drinks, and the lovely chocolate cake was made by Mary Cole to celebrate the birthdays of Lynne, Cynthia, Sibyl and Phyl.
Thank you Lynne for acting as hostess for an enjoyable evening.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, at 7.30pm, at 9 Longbridge Road, where there will be a discussion entitled "Firsts - British Women Achievers".
All are welcome. Contact 881691 for details.
MARGARET Jerome: Villagers will be sad to learn that Margaret passed away on August 1, after a short illness.
This centenarian celebrated her 100th birthday on March 5 in great style, and enjoyed every moment.
She spent much of her life in Bramley and will be missed very much.
