Hythe & DIBDEN left the New Forest on Saturday evening still wondering how they weren't taking any points back to the Waterside following their 3-2 defeat by Ringwood Town.
"I just don't know how we lost this match," sighed Hythe & Dibden chairman Robbie Parsons. "We played really well and I'm very happy with our performance - just not the result, we deserved at least a point today."
Dean Chapman put the Watersiders ahead in the first half, John Dilling levelled for the home side before James Finlay nudged Ringwood into a 55th minute lead.
Andy Lonsdale rounded off a smart move to seemingly earn Hythe & Dibden a point with his 86th minute equaliser only for Carl Fleet to grab a last-gasp winner with a header that found the net via the upright.
Three goals in a whirlwind nine first-half minutes were enough to give Poole Town a comfortable 3-0 opening day victory against Fawley.
Gary Funnell opened the scoring in spectacular style for the Dolphins on the half-hour mark with a stunning 30-yard free-kick. Straight from the restart, Fawley lost possession and a slide-rule pass by Funnell released Lee Manning who doubled their advantage.
On 39 minutes, Gary Fletcher found Taffy Richardson whose cross was converted by Leigh Cornick for Poole's third. Town's Chris Reeves said: "It was a very satisfying result and we have scored some terrific goals."
Poole's next opponents, Bishops Waltham Town, opened their campaign with a 2-0 success against Dorset newcomers Shaftesbury at Priory Park.
"I thought that we played well in what was a very close fought game and just about deserved our win," said new Bishop's Waltham boss Phil Bailey. Chris Yoxall struck twice for the Bishops in the final 20 minutes.
There were contrasting fortunes for the two clubs relegated from Division 1 last season.
Blackfield were pipped 1-0 by a Flye goal at home to Stockbridge whilst Whitchurch were indebted to a last-minute strike for their 3-2 verdict against Alresford.
Whitchurch chairman Tony Chivers said: "We haven't played that well today and we've made hard work of getting all three points, but fortunately we've got the win that we wanted."
Chris Iddles and James Hemmings twice put Whitchurch in front only for the visitors to equalise on each occasion from the penalty spot. With the final seconds ticking away, Iddles crossed for Shaun Maye to head home United's late winner.
IF it's goals you want this season, then look no further than Dave Coleman AFC whose first three games in SWL Division 3 have produced no less than 18 goals!
After crushing 7-0 and 5-0 defeats in their opening matches at the hands of Fleetlands and Colden Common, the Salisbury-based outfit dished out punishment of their own by spanking Yateley Green with six of the best.
DC AFC's resounding 6-0 success is even more remarkable as Yateley Green had started their season just 48 hours earlier by flattening Fleet Spurs 6-3 on their own patch.
"Naturally I really enjoyed this game and we could have scored even more goals!" said DC manager Derrick Coleman. Four-goal Thomas Judd led the way for the home side with Dave Marfleet and an own goal completing their spectacular sextet.
QK Southampton were also hit for six by Tadley Calleva as they hit the road for the first time this season.
Peter White (12), Paul Hargood (36), Barry Critchley (44), Danny Peters (56 & 89) and Tyrone Aldridge were the Tadley six-shooters and they'll fancy more tomorrow night against Fleet Spurs, who have suffered two six-goal hidings in the first week of the season.
Paulsgrove now boast the only perfect record in Division 3 after they defeated basement battlers Fleet Spurs 5-2 while fellow 100 percenters Otterbourne lost their tag of invincibility in a 1-0 defeat at Paulsgrove's near neighbours Hayling United.
A second minute own goal put Paulsgrove on the road to a third straight victory with Danny Wearne (25), Martin Whitaker (52), Stevie Knight (62) and Ben Burgess (65) completing their nap hand. Martin Williams (60) and John Mathias (85) replied.
"We've made a very good start," smiled Paulsgrove secretary Jim Garcia. "We were pretty much in control but it was not as easy as the scoreline might suggest.
"We now need to keep things going in our next match at home to Netley Central Sports on Wednesday evening."
