A HEALTHY haul of 162 points has boosted Team Solent's chances of survival in the Southern Women's League Division 1.

But for their usual frailty at junior level, the club might even have won their penultimate fixture at Crawley.

They were dominant in the senior ranks, recording nine first-string and ten second-string victories, but they had to settle for fourth place on the day because the junior squad was weakened by holidays.

Up-and-coming hurdler Emma Duck, notched convincing wins in the 100m and 400m events, while Katy Watts went close to the 50-metre mark for the second week running in the javelin.

Yet again, the mighty combination of Vicki Foster and Debbie Callaway proved virtually unbeatable in the throws.

Solent's top-flight future now hinges on the sixth and final match of the series at Sutton on September 11.
