TOUR DE FRANCE legend Sean Yates is the star in a maximum entry of 120 listed for Antelope Racing Team's open ten-mile time trial tomorrow.

As a former British champion over the distance, he will be the one to beat.

Like the early season 'ten' organised by the Southampton Club, this one takes place outside Hampshire, on the fast Oakdale course at Poole where a winning time of under 19 minutes is expected if conditions are favourable.

Though a veteran, Yates (In Gear RT) has maintained his speed throughout his cycling life, and, after winning a time trial stage at record speed in "Le Tour" in the 80s, he won the race leader's yellow jersey on the road to Rennes in Brittany in 1994.

In the absence of last year's winner, Terry Icke (Poole Wheelers) - not yet fully recovered from injuries when knocked down on the same course nearly three months ago, Yates's principal rivals will be the Primera Bournemouth pair Julian Jenkinson and Brian Greensmith, VC St Raphael duo Steve Walkling and Paul Haggerty, plus Ian Ayliffe (Salisbury RC) Dave Dent (SP Systems Wightlink RT) and last Sunday's 50-mile winner, Ben Instone (A3 CRG), while the promoting club will be relying on the legs of Glenn Longland.

With a revamped Tour of Britain now back on the racing calendar and only three weeks away, British riders involved will be anxious to show good form in the annual Surrey League Revolutions which started yesterday.

Hampshire's Danny Axford (Parrot Print RT) and Rowan Horner (VC St Raphael) have both won stages in this five-day event and can be expected to do well again this time.

The race takes place on different courses in the South East of England and tomorrow's racing at Goodwood, West Sussex, includes an individual time trial on the motor racing circuit before riders head out for a hilly stage into the South Downs.

Races for other categories will be organised on the motor circuit during the day. Fixtures:
