Eastleigh FC visit Tonbridge Angels for their first ever Isthmian League game tomorrow (Saturday) with a bewildering array of strikers to choose from.
Robbie Matthews has found the net four times in pre-season games, while Andy Forbes, Eastleigh's high-profile signing from Winchester City, scored his first in Sunday's friendly against a Matthew le Tissier XI.
Forbes has been troubled by a recurrence of his long-standing calf problem, so it may well be that manager Paul Doswell won't risk him, at least for the entire 90 minutes.
Nicky Banger isn't fully recoved from the broken arm he sustained towards the end of last season. But the established Paul Sales and the up-and-coming James Stokoe are proven goalscorers too, so Doswell won't be short of options up front.
Eastleigh completed their preparations for the new season with friendlies on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
On Thursday 2,200 packed into the Sparshatts Stadium to see Eastleigh lose 2-nil (Arron Davies, Neil McCann) to a Southampton FC XI.
Ironically, there were a lot more household names on show at Ten Acres on Sunday, when Matt le Tissier fielded a team including Jimmy Case, Gordon Watson and Neil Ruddock - and, of course, himself. But only 400 customers turned up to see Saints win by the odd goal in nine, with Stokoe, Forbes, fellow ex-Winchester City man Danny Smith and Stuart Beck on target for Eastleigh.
But they were all upstaged by Francis Benali. He may have only ever scored once in his professional career but got the winner for Saints on Sunday - set up by son-of-Matt, Mitchell le Tissier!
Watson, Ruddock, Banger and Martin Thomas - the latter two players had changed allegiance for the afternoon - were also on target for the Saints team.
In between those two fixtures, on Saturday, Eastleigh beat Conference 2 side Weymouth 3-1 with two goals from Matthews and one from young sub Lewis Hunt.
