SWINGING tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton returns by popular demand to the International Jazz line-up at the Concorde Club, Eastleigh, on August 18.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1954, his father's extensive collection of jazz 78s played an enormous part in his formative years.
Listening to jazz greats like Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington channelled his destiny.
Scott dabbled with musical instruments from the age of five, playing drums and then piano - he even played harmonica for a while. His only formal lessons were on clarinet at the age of eight.
At that time, he heard Johnny Hodges on saxophone - he knew then he had found his niche in jazz.
Scott's passion for the genre grew when hearing live performances by Paul Gonsalves and Illinois Jacquet.
He has played at just about every jazz festival and party in the world, once playing a "command performance" for the King of Thailand, a big jazz fan.
Cole Mathieson, managing director of the Concorde Club, said: "Scott is always a popular performer here at the club. His style and rounded playing is phenomenal - saxophonist fans will be in awe."
Scott (pictured) will be accompanied by John Bunch on piano, Dave Green on bass and Steve Brown on drums.
Tickets for Scott Hamilton are £12 for members and £14 for guests.
Bookings can be made by calling The Concorde Club on 023 8061 3989 or faxing on 023 8061 1577.
