STROLLING in the gloaming... Following their successful exploration of our bit of the Lyde and Loddon Valley a fortnight ago, Alton Ramblers are back in our area and are hosting a five-mile evening walk through the countryside just up the road here at Greywell this coming Wednesday evening.

SCHOOL'S out for summer...but not for the grown-ups!

Join in a blast from the past at an adults-only charity school disco this weekend, Saturday, August 14, in Heckfield Memorial Hall.

School uniform is mandatory, so shake out those white shirts and ties, pleated skirts and boxy trousers (or shorts, for the more daring!).

Tickets are £10 each and include buffet school dinner and draw entry for a DVD player to replay those memories in 21st century technology.

Doors open at 7.30pm and the closing bell will ring at midnight.

The retro fun is in aid of Doug Wheeler's trip to Everest in November on behalf of SCOPE.
