A BELGIAN lorry driver and his daughter escaped serious injury after their truck overturned and caught fire near Winchester.
Motorists faced lengthy delays as the lorry burned.
It was carrying cardboard in steel cages when it overturned at about 4.30am at the Winnall interchange near junction 9 of the M3.
It took nearly 12 hours to remove the wreckage.
Tailbacks on the southbound carriageway of the A34 lasted throughout the day.
The driver was taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester with minor injuries.
His 11-yearold daughter escaped unharmed.
A spokesman from Winchester Fire Station said the lorry caught fire after it crashed into the middle of the roundabout.
