THE wheels on this bus could one day come grinding to a halt. That is the fear of members of the 14th Eastleigh Scout Group.
It was bought secondhand several years ago but is now over 12 years old and showing its age.
Assistant group Scout leader Dick Whittington said: "It is largely due to generous support of Monks Brook Motors, who provide free servicing and repairs, that the vehicle is still on the road."
The Allbrook Hill based group is concerned that the minibus will get to the end of the road before a replacement can be bought.
So far an extensive search for funds has hit a dead end.
Now, through the Daily Echo, the 14th Eastleigh is appealing for help in its fundraising drive for a new bus, which it is estimated will cost between £20,000 and £30,000.
Mr Whittington said: "We have raised over £10,000 during the past 12 months to meet various activity costs and this challenge is proving one too many for the group's volunteers."
The current minibus is used for a wide range of activities including providing a vital transport link for the award winning Spitfires Band to engagements across the south of England.
Anyone who can help should call Mr Whittington on 07736 792 687.
