A HAMPSHIRE charity opens the doors to its new premises today after moving from its home of almost 60 years.
The Winchester based headquarters of the Red Cross has traded places from one of city's grandest houses to offices in Winnall.
The charity left its old home at Weeke Manor for health and safety reasons.
The large 18th century mansion on the western side of the city has now been sold to developers.
The building is being converted into homes and a large number of houses will be constructed in the grounds.
Chris Hopkins, acting operations director, said: "Weeke Manor has been synonymous with the Red Cross for many years but this new building at Winnall will give staff and volunteers the opportunity to develop and promote its many caring and vital services even more".
The medical loan department, whose staff are pictured here, will operate from the new premises in Winnall Close close to the Royal Mail sorting office.
The site also houses two large halls for first aid training and the other Red Cross departments, including fundraising, community services and the therapeutic care team.
The Leonard Cheshire Charity, which works closely with the Red Cross, will also work from the new offices.
It provides advice, information, assessment and equipment for people with disabilities and the elderly, to assist with maintaining independence at home.
The popular Balfour Museum, depicting the illustrious past of the Hampshire Red Cross, will also be resited at the new premises.
