Jimmy Adams revealed that he may open the batting with Michael Brown in the second innings against Glamorgan after recovering from a dislocated finger before scoring a championship-best 75.

Left-hander Adams dislocated the little digit of his right hand while fielding at point on the first day at Sophia Gardens.

But he showed no discomfort in surpassing his previous highest first class score for Hampshire - the 60 he made in the last game of last season at Derbyshire.

The 23-year-old, who graduated from Loughborough University last month, may now be pushed up the order to open with Brown in the second innings.

He said: "Kenners was going to bat at five in the first innings because that's where he has scored a lot of runs in the past.

"That was the plan before things went wrong with the finger. It still throbs a bit but it's only the little finger. I took a few pain killers and the adrenaline helped me when I was out there."

Adams, who scored a career best 107 for Loughborough UCCE last year, added: "We needed to get as close to their score as possible and looked like we might struggle to do that at one point.

"It got a little bit easier and we could have had a nice little lead but in the end it was disappoiting not to go past them and get the next bonus point."

Adams added: "Clarkey was great out there, he talks all the time and I was enjoying watching him from the other end. Warney helped me through it as well and it was the first time I'd batted with Brucey since we were 11. It was unfortuante that I ran him out because we could have had a nice little lead."
