IT WILL be a case of "I'm a celebrity, get me in here," at Eastleigh's Sparshatts Stadium tomorrow week (August 8, 3pm).

Neil Ruddock, star of ITV's cult survival show, is among a host of big-name ex-Saints who have been rounded up by Matt Le Tissier for a pre-season friendly against the Isthmian Premier new boys.

Two of Saints' current backroom staff, assistant manager Steve Wigley and reserve boss Dennis Rofe, will also be having a run-out, along with long-serving club skipper Francis Benali, who hung up his boots earlier this year after 22 years on the Saints playing staff.

Le Tissier will also make an appearance for the all-star ex-Saints XI, who will be managed by 1976 FA Cup-winning boss Lawrie McMenemy.

Admission (£5 adults and £1 children) is pay on the day and includes a family fun afternoon featuring bouncy castles and face painting for the kids. Gates open at 1pm.

Ex-Saints squad is: Ian Andrews, Steve Baker, Kevin Moore, Kevin Bond, Neil Ruddock, Mark Blake, Dennis Rofe, Francis Benali, Tommy Widdrington, Mark Draper, Steve Wigley, Gordon Watson, Matt Le Tissier, Nicky Banger, Ian Baird and David Hughes.

Tomorrow Eastleigh host FA Vase winners Winchester City in the Hampshire Chronicle Cup (3pm).

New signing Danny Smith, the former Winchester captain, will be at the Sparshatts Stadium to sign a contract for his new club, but he is ruled out of action by an ankle injury. The 21-year-old former AFC Bournemouth defender/midfielder has already signed Isthmian and Wessex League forms for Eastleigh.

Another player who won't be featuring tomorrow is Maltese trialist Carlo Mamo. Like Havant & Waterlooville before them, Eastleigh have decided against signing the left-sided defender/midfielder, who is moving to England to study at Portsmouth University.

Doswell said: "He's a tidy player, but he lacks the extra yard of pace needed for the English game."

A hectic week at the Sparshatts Stadium continues next Thursday (August 5, 7.45pm) with the visit of the Saints first team.

Rupert Lowe will be opening Eastleigh's new stand some time after 7pm. Tickets are £6 for adults and £3 for children available from the Saints ticket office or by phoning Eastleigh's Pat Mallon on 023 8061 3361.
