LITTLE Stephanie Pratt maybe just five, but when it comes to motorbikes she's something of a veteran.

Along with other youngsters as young as four, she performed with the Tigers Children's Motorcycle Team entertaining the crowds at Swanmore's Golden Jubilee Carnival.

Under the watchful eye of the team's chairman Geoff Price, more than 20 youngsters aged from four to 15 performed jumps and stunts - some going through hoops of fire.

The display in the recreation ground was just one of the highlights of an action-packed day featuring a carnival procession, jazz band, morris dancers and a Punch and Judy show.

After months of preparation organisers Debbie Willis and Sidney Dean said that the Swanmore community had once again pulled together to make the carnival another success.

As well as having a good time themselves, visitors to the carnival were also helping village youngsters have a summer to remember.

Much of the money raised will go towards Swanmore's Children's Holiday Club which organises days out for deserving children.

Debbie said: "It's great to give them a chance to have a good time at attractions such as Thorpe Park when they would not normally go away during the school holidays."

Village groups including Swanmore's very own conservation group and the Meon Valley Lions Clubs also took the opportunity to have their own stalls and recruit new members.

Conservation volunteer Catherine Kemp said: "The carnival is much bigger than last year. It's very good to have something like this for everyone in Swanmore."
