WE now have to wait another week for Saints' first league win of the season and it will, no doubt, be a long wait.

I was all geared up for Sunday's game, looking forward to pay-back time for a certain manager and up until half time I was still feeling confident.

The second half began and put it this way, I wasn't feeling so confident. Spurs didn't play very well and wasted all of their chances - apart from two, of course.

Saints are now at the point of either having to play Uwe Rosler, Marian Pahars and James Beattie all at once or buying a new striker - even if it means spending more money than Saints may wish to.

At White Hart Lane, the fans sat in anticipation when seeing James Beattie was preparing to come on - hoping it would be for a very tired and drained Uwe Rosler.

But no, Stuart Gray takes off one of the most-hard working and tough players in Anders Svensson.

Fair enough, Marian Pahars was injured, but why not push Kevin Davies and Svensson up and bring on Beattie for Matthew Oakley, who was clearly having one of his worst games for a long time.

The chances weren't going to come from anywhere else so why not try something attacking?

The tackle of the day came from Tahar El Khalej in the 63rd minute. He not only got the ball but, with him as the last man, Tahar prevented a possible goal for Tottenham.

Surprisingly, there were two good things to come out of this game - Wayne Bridge and Dean Richards finally performed to their best ability under the watchful spectacles of Sven Goran Eriksson.

It was a shame to not have sold the full 3,000 allocation but the 1,700 fans who did travel certainly made up for that. There were so many great chants of the day it was hard to choose just the one.

Most of them I am unable to print but no doubt those with an imagination can work them out! One of the best came after Richards made two great clearances and so the Saints fans told Tottenham to "Shove their four million!" The food was reasonably priced with a pie costing £1.90 and a drink at £1.30.

There were also hardly any queues, which is very rare for a football ground nowadays!

Tonight Saints are travelling to Brighton and now crunch time for the Saints players because it is all or nothing.

Some of the players have predicted Saints winning the Worthington Cup this season, so my advice is sort yourselves out - the travelling supporters can only do so much.
