Uncle Herb, RU40 and 2-Tonic, Fleming Park, Eastleigh
PROMISING young band Uncle Herb kicked off a well-received concert with a solid performance, although the addition of keyboards would have smoothed out the sound.
UB40 tribute band RU40 continued the show with some relentless reggae, rhythmically repetitive but hypnotic, Here I Am Baby and One In Ten particularly catchy.
But, of course, it was Red, Red Wine which really got the audience dancing and singing.
2-Tonic are a tight seven-piece with two honking saxes and an aggressive lead singer.
They are good musicians with a hard, high-energy sound and some angry, anti-Blair lyrics.
The Eastleigh Summer Music Festival runs until Sunday.
