ANDREW MCFARLANE still has his eyes on the Maxxis British Motocross title after racing to a couple of third places in the sixth round at Desertmartin in Northern Ireland.

The Australian had never been to the circuit, with its deep red loamy sand, but the Bike It Dixon Yamaha rider closed the gap on championship leader Stephen Sword, who suffered an off day and failed to make the podium in either race.

With two rounds at go, the Meon-Valley based former Aussie champion is only 63 points behind Sword.

Titchfield-based Scottish teenager Billy Mackenzie continued his fight back to fitness with two finishes. His results looked disappointing but his track performance left team manager Steve Dixon happy enough.
