STRIKER Alan Connell continued his impressive build-up to the new campaign last night.
Connell scored his fifth goal of pre-season in Cherries' late win over non-league Eastleigh.
In a typical pre-season friendly, a game of few genuine chances was finally settled four minutes from time as the fitagain striker latched on to
Dani Rodrigues's through ball to confidently strike the ball high into the net.
Although Sean O'Driscoll's Cherries side controlled the majority of the possession, they were unable to create any real chances in an instantly forgettable first half.
But Cherries were brighter after the break with Rodrigues and Connell both looking sharp and trialist Deogo Andrade showing an eagerness to run at defenders whenever he could.
The 19-year-old has played with Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo back in his homeland and is pencilled in for a four-day spell at Dean
Court. He is again expected to feature against Dorchester tomorrow.
After the game, Andrade, who speaks little English, said: "I am a free agent and was at Belenenses in the Portuguese first division last season.
"I enjoyed the game. There were some hard tackles but Bournemouth have some good players."
Andrade produced one superb run as he beat three players at pace but saw his shot fly narrowly wide.
And Connell should have put Cherries ahead earlier than he did when he beat the offside trap but saw his shot come back off the post with Eastleigh goalkeeper Wayne Shaw beaten.
