A PART-TIME cleaner from Southampton has hit the Bingo jackpot winning more than £101,000.

Jill White, 66, from Bitterne, says she will not give up her part-time cleaning job because it funds her twice-weekly trips to bingo.

Jill joined Mecca Bingo in Portswood when it opened 35 years ago. Last Wednesday she won the National Bingo Game prize of £100,000, plus the regional prize of £1,000 and the house prize of £76.

The national game is won somewhere in the UK every weeknight - but Jill's win is the biggest players at Portswood Mecca have seen in five years.

She has promised to spend some of the cash on a fishing boat for her husband Michael, a 68-year-old part-time taxi driver. The couple have two daughters, a son and 13 grandchildren, all living in Southampton.

Jill, who won a £1,006 regional prize at Mecca in April, said: "When my husband came to pick us up from the club, my daughter, who I'd been playing bingo with, told him I'd won again.

"He thought we meant another £1,000. When I told him it was £100,000 he went into shock and my daughter had to drive us home."
