VISITORS to Winchester's Wolvesey Castle travelled back in time to Tudor England at the weekend.
The two-day living history re-enactment was one of a series of events to mark Mary Tudor and King Philip II of Spain's 450th wedding anniversary.
The royal couple got married at Winchester's Cathedral and it caused a massive stir in the city.
There are two exhibitions in the cathedral to mark the anniversary.
One features a portrait of Mary Tudor which has rarely been seen in public before.
Organiser of the events, Canon Flora Winfield said: "Mary's often regarded as someone who wasn't very popular but when she came to the throne she was."
Actors performed the parts of travellers who had arrived in Winchester to get a first glimpse of the king and queen.
Their twenty-first century audience got the chance to learn what the ordinary people thought about the big day.
