THANKS: Many thanks to those of you who have contacted me recently giving me support and offering their disgust at the recent anonymous letter I received.

The support and encouragement I have received has far outweighed the letter. Thank you.

ROADWORKS: Work starts today on the A340.

I understand that for the first week or so work will be investigative, locating services and so on. However, some disruption may occur.

As I have said, the work is needed and has to be done, so let's try to do our bit. As they say, just think - is your journey necessary?

COFFEE: Every Friday, at 10am, you can have a coffee and a chat at The Salvation Army Hall, in the green room and foyer. All are welcome

SUMMER playscheme: At Tadley Community Centre, Newchurch Road, from August 9 to 13, from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

For further information, call 01256 844847.

COLLECTION: The recent collection at Sainsbury's on behalf of the British Polio Fellowship Berkshire branch raised £184 towards funds. A big thank you to those who gave or helped.

THE First Tadley Guides: They have been doing a lot of activities, most of them at Washer's Copse, lighting fires and cooking on them. This was by kind permission of Mr Alexander.

On June 16 they had a stall at the charity fayre in St Paul's hall to raise money.

They also helped at the SeeAbility summer fayre at Heather House by running a paint-a-face stall and, most important of all, helping to keep the stallholders supplied with tea as well as being general runners.

The Guides are pleased and proud after joining other older Guides from Hampshire for 24 hours of various activities, including an early morning hike.

Victoria Wagstaff has been chosen to represent Hampshire North at the next stage of the international selection. She will be attending a weekend to be held in November. We wish her well.
