BROWNIES: Gathered recently at The Hurst to celebrate 90 years of Brownie Guiding.

The Division of Kingsclere and Silchester had a great party with lots of games, cake decorating, painting balloons and making boomerangs.

RAINBOWS: Said goodbye last week to their leader Dormouse, Wendy Legg, who has had to retire under the Guide's age rules.

I will give the new leader's name soon.

SCHOOL leavers: Year 6 of Silchester School held their final service recently.

They took an active part in it, planning readings and prayers and speaking of their memories too.

They were presented with a framed photograph from the PTA and a Bible each from the church.

More than 100 people attended.

CRICKET: Silchester beat Old Basing II by two wickets in their away league match on Saturday, July 17.

Glen Pluck took four for 45, when Old Basing were dismissed for 168.

In a nail-biting finish, Silchester reached their target with just one over to spare, with Bill Macklin hitting a spectacular 66 in an innings that included nine fours and two sixes.

DIG supper: There are still a few tickets available from Valerie, who can be contacted on 9700349, for the dig supper on Monday, August 2.
