FOOTPATH: Not before time, there is a real prospect of obtaining a short stretch of footpath from the entrance to Christ Church to the bus stop in Reading Road.

This has been sought by many people and is an important link for those wishing to access public transport, as well as for church users.

FROOME Place: Steps are in hand to establish whether the spelling of "Froome Place" can be corrected to represent the proper spelling of Olive Froom's name, after whom the road is named.

BEAT officer: A welcome visitor to this month's parish council meeting was our returning beat officer, Pc Ray Niblock.

A hi-tech bicycle and an endless string of other paraphernalia means that he should certainly maintain a high-visibility role in Chineham.

L'ECOLE Francaise, the French-speaking playgroup, has stopped for a summer break.

Group leaders would like to wish those off to "big" school the best of luck. As for those who are left, and any newcomers, they would like to wish a "bonnes vacances" and would like to remind all concerned that playgroup will be restarting on September 6.

For further information, contact Chansopha Biermann on 352434.

LIBRARY: The mobile library will visit the village hall car park, from 4pm to 4.20pm, this Thursday.

CHRIST Church activities: Open house coffee mornings, from 10am to noon, every Tuesday, at the church.

Everyone is invited to pop in for a drink and a chat in good company.
