SCHOOL's out for summer: As of lasy Thursday, children will be out and about all day now, so please drive carefully through the corridors of parked cars.

Dog walkers should also be vigilant and scoop the poop promptly. This has been a frustrating concern for several residents lately, especially in the Solbys Road area where early morning walkers have left a trail behind them.

LADIES Night: Please remember there is no meeting in August.

However, they will return to the village hall on the second Tuesday of the month, starting in September.

THE Wednesday Parent & Toddler group has now ceased for the summer, but will be back in September, at the village hall as before.

A NUMBER to note: If you have a problem with missed bin collection, abandoned vehicles, pests, street cleansing or fly-tipping then the number to call is 01256 844844 for the customer contact centre of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

BROOKVALE socials: These will start up again, as of September. Many of the old favourites will be back, such as skittles, quizzes and casino night.

New things are also being organised, like nights out. A group is currently being arranged to see Lenny Henry at The Anvil on October 24. Tickets are selling fast, so please contact me on the above number, for more information or ticket requests.

I WILL be taking a break over the summer, but will be back with more local news in September. Have a good holiday.
