EVENTS organiser String has moved "down town" to larger premises.

String is in expansion mode and has relocated its events team, chiropratic clinic and health and wellness department from Hartley Wintney to the Lutyens Building in Bilton Road, Basingstoke.

String has been taking Basingstoke by storm with Pop Academy, an inter-schools talent competition involving 10 schools and nearly 2,000 children between the ages of six and 11. The final took place last Thursday at Basingstoke's Haymarket Theatre.

The company has also been involved with more than 28 Cancer Research UK Race for Life events, including the one in Basingstoke.

Phil Simmons (pictured), head of presentation for String and creator of the Pop Academy competition, said: "It is good to move into the town, and certainly reduces travelling time for us all.

"The Pop Academy competition has been time-consuming but incredibly worthwhile, with some new future talent discovered.

"All the headteachers have commented on the positive impact it's had on those involved. It's been a very busy time for us."

Lee Wickham, chief chiropractor, said: "Our existing chiropractor and therapists' patient base, which predominately features those from the Basingstoke area, have welcomed the move as it will cut down on their travel time.

"It is also felt that this will enhance the growth of the business."

String is also planning the launch of a new website for the end of this month.
