MOTHER of two, May Partridge was born in 1899 on the Isle of Sheppey when Queen Victoria was on the throne.

Now a remarkable 105, when she met her husband Frederick he was in the Army. When he was posted to Jamaica she went with him. Their first child, Stanley who will be 80 this year, was born there in October 1924.

The couple later had a daughter, named Renee. The family lived in India before returning to England and Salisbury Road in Andover.

Renee later became mayoress of Andover, as her husband, Sid Vincent was mayor in the early 1950s. Sadly Renee has since died.

May's husband died in 1985 but she continued to live at Salisbury Road and celebrated her 100th birthday there. Daughter-in-law Muriel, described the staff at Andover Nursing Home where she now lives as wonderful.

As for her remarkable age, son Stanley reckoned: "It's all in the genes!"
