BAT Sports are still in the Southern Electric Cup - but only thanks to a downpour which saved them from a semi-final defeat against Havant.

The Southern Electric Premier League champions were reeling at 24-4, in response to Havant's 136-6 off 20 overs, when heavy rain caused the match to be abandoned.

BAT will get a second chance in next Tuesday's replay - the winners of which will play Portsmouth in the Rose Bowl final on Monday week, August 2.

Portsmouth beat Bournemouth by seven wickets in the other semi-final.

The miserly Terry Rawlins gave BAT an early lift, but Havant recovered from an uncertain 16-2 with Richard Hindley (43) and Paul Gover (29) launching the repair programme and Richard Pineo cracking an unbeaten 43 to take their final total to 136-6.

Pineo (3-12) quickly removed Neal Parlane, David Banks and Richard Kenway as BAT plunged to 24-4 when the match was abandoned in the ninth over.

Richard Scot (38) fought hard to keep Bournemouth's prospects alive against Portsmouth at Southern Gardens.

He was eventually sixth out at 67-6 - four of his teammates having perished to Pete Hayward (4-26) - after which only Neal Staddon (25 not out) made much headway.

Bournemouth's 123-8 was overhauled in 18.

1 overs - Lee Savident (35) and Carl Bradfield (33 not out) doing the spadework before Sam Lavery hit 26no to clinch the tie.
