Gosport'S 800th birthday celebrations this weekend promise to have something for everyone to enjoy.
The free bash will start at noon on Saturday at Walpole Park with more than 70 groups such as the Gosport Silver Band, the Goshawks Gymnastics club and dance group Freespiritz participating.
The town's first-ever carnival procession will snake through the streets, starting at 2pm at Walpole Park with 20 floats.
There will be free children's rides and sports activities with the food and drink being the only thing people have to pay for.
Nigel Draycott, event co-ordinator, said: "This event will be a fantastic demonstration of the community spirit that exists in Gosport. It will demonstrate the terrific work that is taking place throughout the borough, as well as being a fun day for everyone who comes to watch or join in."
