CONGRATULATIONS to Loddon Sports: At their presentations evening they were awarded the FA Charter Standard Award.

The presentation was made by John Ward, chairman of the Hampshire FA.

This honour reflects the hard work by the club.

Stuart Fifield and Fred Berntsen received the plaque jointly.

Winners of the main Loddon awards were: Luke Gaiger, Rory Hatherell, Jack Ellis and Neil Cockburn.

James Tennant (under-12s) won the John Preston Cup.

Ten-year-old William Jones was presented with the Brian Gaiger Shield, and the Alf Farmer Shield went to Jonathan Selfe.

EVERGREENS: Have enjoyed a couple of events recently.

Veronica Upton gave a talk on basket-making, and Jean Wright said: "Everyone seemed to enjoy it."

They've also had an outing to Brighton, and again, that was very successful.

RIVER trip: The sun shone for the coach and river trip.

Donald said: "The weather was absolutely perfect.

"The coach took us to Maidenhead, and then we went through all the locks to Henley.

"Some of the party looked around the museum and the special Wind in the Willows exhibition and some browsed.

"The coach met us at Henley to bring us home."

DAPHNE du Maurier: Was voted as the best woman writer of the 20th century at the recent National Women's Register (NWR) meeting.

Natalie said: "Enid Blyton and Agatha Christie weren't far behind but we felt that we should choose a writer for adults."

The evening was part of a national event and the group were given seven authors to choose from.

Anyone interested in joining NWR should call Gill on 882106.
