ROBERT Altman's latest ensemble drama is set within the hallowed halls of the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago and follows a year in the lives of the teachers and dancers, culminating in the prestigious end of season performance of Blue Snake.
Talented ingenue Ry (Neve Campbell) has her eyes on the prima ballerina role but she has yet to catch the eye of the company's gregarious artistic director Alberto Antonelli (Malcolm McDowell).
Fortune smiles on Ry and she replaces an injured dancer in an important showcase, and finds herself in Antonelli's favour.
However, her dedication to her art is tested when she falls head over heels for sous chef Josh (James Franco).
