AFTER last year's celebrations, which attracted more than 8,000 people, Art Asia is back once again with another collection of celebrations and events.

Starting this month and running until September, Art Asia begins the initiative to 'spice up the city'.

Beginning tomorrow at midday, the nine-hour Mela Festival in Hoglands Park, Southampton will have something for everyone.

An action-packed day is on offer and there will be entertainment for all the family to enjoy with a wide range of events and activities planned at this free event.

This year the festival will star Bhangra and R&B performers, Gubi Sandhu, Indy Sagu, Rahvi Bhullar and DJ Vinay. But it is not just Bhangra, - other musical vibes and artists also get a look in, such as the Nizami Brothers and Qawwali music, the SauRang Orchestra with a take on Asian fusion and of course some of the wonderful musical beats of Bollywood.

And if the music gets your feet tapping to the beat then why not try your hand at some of the dance classes running including traditional and modern styles? Or you could have a look around the various arts and crafts on show.

Other attractions also include; a family play area, kite flying, face-painting, a bouncy castle, beauty and Mehndi henna hand painting, ethnic clothing and accessories and of course food and a licensed bar.

Over the next few months Art Asia's initiative continues with the Reduced Indian Film Company coming to The Nuffield theatre as well as many different classes teaching dance and musical instruments.

For a taste of all things Asian and to be a part of the festival set on spicing up the city, make sure you are at Hoglands Park, tomorrow!
