Two people have been charged with drugs offences following dawn raids carried out in Winchester on Wednesday.

Paula Heathers (33), of Mildmay Street, Winchester and Lee John Davies (28), also of Mildmay Street, have both been charged with possession of Class A drugs, namely heroin, with intent to supply.

Paula Heathers has been released on police bail until July 20th and Lee John Davies was due to appear before Basingstoke Magistrates yesterday (Thursday).

The raids were part of Hampshire Constabulary's "Safer Streets" campaign and followed a series carried out last week in Alton, where three people were arrested for drugs offences.

Detective Inspector David Smith said: "Our work and investigations are ongoing to minimise and reduce the drug trafficking that goes on across Central Hampshire.

"Whilst there is not a huge drugs problem in this area compared to some other towns and cities in the county, it does exist and we will continue to do all we can to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs."

l Anyone who has information on drugs-related activity is asked to call their local police station on 0845 045 45 45, or the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline 0800 555 111.
